The cottages are beautiful and the owners very accommodating. As you drive in the neighborhood is a little seedy, but when you turn into the fenced property it's a lake oasis. The fishing is great too. We had a late start the first morning and still caught two channel catfish within an hour. The absence of a television is great because it allowed us a relaxing weekend on the lake. I couldn't recommend this place more. By the way, it's incredibly relaxing to sit on the covered porch with a book in the rain.

My family stayed here this weekend we had so much fun! The cabins are great and the owners were so amazing and took great care of us. I can't tell you how much we all enjoyed it and I most definitely would recommend going,we definitely will be back! If you go order the cinnamon rolls and pie they were very good and they deliver them to your cabin the cinnamon rolls fresh and hot!!! Thank you to the Williams family for a great weekend!

The owners are super nice people. We stayed in the handicapped cottage and everything is brand new.. We really enjoyed just sitting on the deck looking out to the water. Highly recommend this place for a relaxing few days.

Cottages are new construction, very comfortable even with 7 adults in the 2br + loft. Hosts are very hospitable and went the extra mile for us by bringing us a radio when there was severe weather. The neighborhood is a bit run down but the property is fenced in and we felt very safe the whole time.

We have had the pleasure of staying here three days and have absolutely loved it. Stunning views of the lake from our comfy porch and watching the wildlife. The cottage we are in is so pretty, many beautiful details. A wonderful place for solitude or family gathering! The Williams family are the nicest people you could ever meet!!!! Be sure to inquire about ordering ahead a wonderful loaf of homemade bread or pastry made by their daughter Mary. She is a fabulous baker!!!

My husband Chris and I had the pleasure of spending part of our vacation here and it was the most beautiful and relaxing place I have ever visited. The Williams are wonderful and they made sure our visit was something to remember. The cottage has everything you can think of. We are certainly coming back.

We had a great time at the Sproul House. The house was just as pictured and very close to the lake. Tom was very good at communicating with us before and during our stay. Great value!

Wanted to take the family on a weekend getaway, and host provide the perfect setting complete with a canoe for fishing, horses to feed, a fire pit to roast s'mores and treats for our kitchen. We could not have had a better time!
 What Kyle loved about listing:
We really appreciate your generosity over the weekend. It was such a great weekend getaway for us and the kids really had a great time. Thank you for your kindness and best wishes on Old Camp Joy.

Experience: Everything was fantastic. Sadly I started to run a fever the night I stayed there. The hosts, who were so nice already, were absoluty wonderful to me and did everything they could to make me comfortable. Without going into too much detail they really made me feel almost like part of the family. The accommodations: cabins were very clean and new with a great view of the lake. The interiors were decorated perfectly with thoughtful French cottage details. I believe the cabins were handicap accessible with a ramp and large walk in shower (which was unexpected and impressive). My only regret was that I couldn't stay longer but plan on finding an excuse to return soon.

 What Rennie loved about listing:
All of the little personal details made the place very special. Thank you again for everything and I hope I didn't get your family sick. Lysol everything!

What Rennie thought could improve about the experience:
Everything was so nice I cannot really think of a suggestion. I meant to mention that they make these little indoor bug lights that are quite amazing...I keep one in my house running almost 24/7. They have a blue light that attracts the bugs if they get inside and then a little fan that sucks them down into a compartment were they can be left to die or returned outside in case you catch a beneficial insect. These would be very beneficial for your own use in the cabins with people like me who let in tons of bugs to clean up without insecticides or to have on hand for guests with similar propensity to go in and out at night. QVC or HSN carries them for about 40$ each. They are one of my favorite purchases ever.

Idyllic is the word my wife used to describe Tom's place on the shore of Lake O' the Pines. I agree. Tom and his wife were very kind and gracious and welcomed us the old campground they're in the process of renovating. 2 cabins and a laundry room are complete, one cabin is under construction and there are plans for more. We stayed in their honeymoon cottage and were delighted with everything. "Sproul House" was comfy and cozy, kitchen had everything we needed, and we really enjoyed the chairs on the deck outside for just sitting and staring at the water. There's a little bit of highway noise from 155, otherwise the atmosphere is incredibly calm and relaxing. Tom provided us with coffee and fresh cream in the morning. We were sorry we only stayed one night, but are thinking of coming back and renting the whole place for a family reunion we loved it so much. Note for internet and TV addicts, they advertise their place as "media free." This is a place to get away from the digital part of your life and just enjoy the people you love in a serene setting. We certainly enjoyed the vacation from the electronic part of our lives.
